A milestone: First intentionally original oil painting. I used a 40 x 30 cm (~16 x 12 inch) canvas on which I had added 2 coats of a light grey gesso and then used tape to create a 12mm border to enable clean edges. It depicts the natural sand dune areas with the ever-present coastal She Oak (Casuarina sp.) trees and volcanic rocks that naturally decorate the beaches in the Bargara area here. This is the culmination of a couple of practice paintings on A3 canvas sheets and the rocks are starting to look more like rocks and less like a herd of armadillos. Trees aren’t quite right yet, but anyway, a first DJ creation.
