This is the lighthouse on Barnegat Bay on the north end of Long Beach Island in New Jersey, affectionately referred to as “Old Barney” by the people who live there.

Thanks. This is meant to be a gift to my brother-in-law who grew up in this area and wanted something to remind him of the shore. I painted it from a reference photo so I’m not surprised it has some photographic elements, I suppose. I will say, it looks like it would be fairly simple, with just a blue sky and a single structure and a few foreground elements. But this took me over six hours to complete, mainly because it took so long to try and get all the detail work and light and shadow accurate. Challenging painting. I think I’ve had my fill of light houses for a bit.
Well worth the effort.....it looks terrific!
