First painting where I'm 90 percent confident I could actually get money for this. But it will be given away.
This is by far my favorite of all my works. It's so deep with the three mountains. There's a good mixture of fairly defined background trees with ones that are not. The near evergreens have four different colors on them (photo can't capture the subtle differences). And lastly, I love the ripples in the river. When I first put them in, they looked like ocean waves. "Whoa, whoa. Let's calm those down," I said while brushing them down to ripples.
Anyway, 12x16 canvas board with a half-inch border created using painter's tape. Oh yeah. Even the lines made by the tape are crisp. Usually they're fuzzy. I think I found how to remove the tape to make them sharp. We'll see if I'm right after the next one.
Handmade frame, too, which stained up better than usual as well.
Just for kicks, I had to add a photo of my very first painting from early 2020 I think. And I remember being proud as ever at that one.
Lots of hard work involved but the result is worth it. Great picture.
Thank you Sandy. I think I'll be framing every painting from now on. A frame makes a painting look better, and making them scratches the "woodworking itch" without getting too involved (like making a table or a shelf).
Thanks, Colin. I completed this one in four or five sessions spanning more than a month. I like letting time go by. The paint dries and it's so much easier adding evergreens over a dried mountain. No making mud. Plus, taking my time allows me to change the direction of the painting. I've given up on being like Bob and cranking one out in 27 minutes and 38 seconds. 🙂
Regards to you both.
Beautiful picture and frame, the small white border fits very well.
Thank you, Jos. At first glance, that border looks like those cardboard matte things that go between the frame and the canvas.
Nice!
Thanks, Tom.

Really beautiful and the frame sets it off beautifully!
