Started this one over a week ago by dropping in some yellow for the sky and a mixture of whatever I had left over from a previous painting for the water (all on a dry canvas.)
This week, I finished it over a three-day stretch...added linseed oil to the top half to blend the sky on day 1. Day 2, I did the cliffs and the land to the right. Day 3, I did everything else.
Except for the sky, this was done on a dry canvas (11x14) using mostly filbert brushes, a flat brush, and a knife. Oh, I also used a round brush that I "altered" for the bushes and trees. Only used a one-inch brush to blend the sky and drag down the base color for the cliffs.
Very pleased with this one, especially the cliffs. My plan was to have a waterfall, but when I got to that point, I said, "Forget that. I like it just the way it is."
Definitely more confident using the smaller brushes. I'm coming to the conclusion that it doesn't matter what you use. If you're confident with the tools, you'll do good work.
Best wishes.
Thank you, Pam, but this one doesn't hold a candle to your last one, the river valley painting. That was really great.
Regards.
Really nice Alex....Well done!
Thank you, Terry.
