I really had fun with this one. Got all done then added a cabin because I thought, "I'd want to live there."
First time using a one-inch brush (cheap chip brush) to make pine trees. Worked out very well. I didn't have to burn through a half a tube of paint to get the brush to a chisel edge.
Still took me two to three hours to finish this, but I think that's because I ended up fiddling around with stuff instead of just moving on.
The stream was a happy accident. I was "using my shoe" to throw in some dark for the grass and got a little heavy handed in that spot. Right away, I saw an opportunity for some water, so I went with it and dropped in a stream. That felt neat to paint 'on the fly' shall we say.
Yes, they are, tel. Thank you.
Hi Alex, I agree. Painting on the fly is fun. You know some people plan out their paintings with sketches and all of that. And I think that’s great. But what I also like to see is composing as you go. Both are wonderful. I have enjoyed seeing your latest works and your comment on color blindness made me laugh because my wife has said something similar to me at our home :) keep up the great work!
Thanks, Happyisland. I've tried numerous times to paint using a painting as a guide. And it never works for me. I either spend too much time agonizing how mine doesn't look like the original, or I take a 'left turn' somewhere and start doing my own thing. I guess in the end, as long as one is painting and having fun, who cares how he/she got there?
Regards.
