Original Creation

Mount Rundle, as seen from Vermillion Lakes, Alberta

AaronR 30 Jun 2024

Hey,

I wanted to do a few paintings of mountains that I live near. When I saw the photograph of this sunset over Mount Rundle, that was it. This was the photo I wanted to take a stab at.

I spent a decent amount of time on the Sky. I've never done a Sky with 3 colors before. Usually its only 2. Also, I've never done reeds in the Foreground quite like this before. So a few firsts on this Painting.

I really like using a small Canvas, and the 8x10 is such a good size to be able to learn on. Since its so small, you can spend more time on each aspect of a painting, and not feel like you're going to work on it until 3am in the morning. All the layers are in small bite sized portions that allow you to be a bit detailed.

let me know what you think of this one :)

Very nice

Wow, that is amazing work on that mountain how you captured the sunlight.

Great little painting, Aaron! <3

The sunlight hitting that small part of the mountain looks awesome. Ads so much atmosphere to the scene.
I also love the subtle colours.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your comments. It really means a lot to me.

This one was fun, but it also had its challenges.

I'm really glad you all like it :)

Beautiful painting with the lights and shadows Aaron, well painted, cheers

I really like it! Love the stillness and the colors. You captured the mood very well!

Thank you both for the Kind words. I tried to capture the lake at Sunset. Peaceful, calm, and quiet. I'm glad it came through a bit.
