As mention here we'll have a special event for the holidays!

The event will be running from today (Nov. 12, 2020) until Jan. 17, 2020. You can submit a painting until Sunday the 10th. We're starting early to give Colin enough time to create the Christmas cards in time for his idea.

By submitting a painting to this event you allow Colin and the Queenscourt Hospice in Southport, England to use and sell your picture for electronic Christmas cards.

This thread is for discussion about the event. Have fun!

Great initiative, I am working on a small picture today. Hope to finish it and post it tomorrow morning...

The comment on the painting I submitted made me really think about something I never thought of. Meaning I think about publishing paintings where the idea came from someone else. I deleted the painting due to this reason and to be honest I think about deleting every other painting I did follow some painting from some artist, except Bob.

Tom0779 no need to delete every other painting Tom! You're upfront about the fact you follow YouTube videos very often. It's just a problem with this event in particular since the paintings could be used in a commercial way and I really don't want anyone involved to get into legal trouble

Felix yeah totally valid... I think about it. At least I have removed one painting I did after an original artwork (non YouTube channel). It might cause problems as anyone can download a painting done here and we can’t control on how it is used. Maybe due to the enthusiasm you want to share something well done one could forget about this fact... that might explain why I never used any social media...
Same is true for those paintings I totally did on my own... Sorry I didn’t want to occupy the thread for this nice idea...

Hi Does it have to be a painting or would a drawing be accepted please?

I created my first submission today but I'm letting it dry a bit. I'll grab a photo of it tomorrow in better lighting. Luckily, I just got a new phone, a Google pixel 4a, and it has a really amazing camera. I should be able to get a really high quality shot of it. I've also discussed this event with a few of my friends who are also artists so perhaps they might create something as well.

Hi Guys - Thanks to everybody for submitting their really excellent work for the Christmas card event. I have now got them all downloaded on to my machine. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic Queenscourt Hospice was unable to get them on to their website in time due to staff absences and part time working.

I have a favour to ask everybody. With your original consent being for your work to only be used for Christmas cards it stops Queenscourt from making any funds until next year. What I propose is, with your agreement, for Queenscourt and possibly other hospices to put your work on their websites and allow supporters to donate funds to make copies of your work for their own use or as gifts to family and friends. You will still own your copyright on your work and all you doing is giving them permission to make a copy. Hospices are really struggling to keep giving care to sick and terminally ill patients. With the epidemic reaching the current levels they will only struggle more and more.

The hospice, and I, really appreciates the effort you put in to your work and your kindness in allowing them to try and generate some funding to help keep them afloat and looking after patients. If they can use your original submissions to the Holiday Spirit event during the year it would make life a lot less stressful for them. Can I ask everybody who entered a piece of work into the event to put a comment on here either agreeing to the change or asking me to remove their work from the ones going to Queenscourt. Not a problem either way.

As a further thought, as the work will be on sale all year round, if you feel that you have a more summer or spring type of work that you can donate to the hospices then they would greatly appreciate it.

            Many thanks again.

@Colin Hudson#1036 Colin, feel free to use anything I have already posted, any time of the year. Any future posts please just ask first. 🙂

Thanks doggymommee8301. Your help, and hard work, is very much appreciated.

I would never use anybody's work without asking first obviously as I value your ongoing support for the hospices.

Hello there Colin, happy New Year!
I’d be honoured for any of my pictures to be used for such a worth while cause.
              Best wishes xxx
