Hamilton: An American Musical

The smash hit broadway musical Hamilton is available on Disney+ since a few days.

Anyone else watched it already? What do you think?

I've watched it two times this last week already (and listened to the album probably another 10 times).
Every song is an absolute banger and there is no filler material!

LOVE IT! I tried to get tickets when it came to my state but they were sold out in minutes. I thought for sure it wouldn’t live up to the hype but I was wrong. Lin Manuel Miranda is a national treasure and has turned me into a full blown Hamilfan 😄

I saw it on Broadway and the film truly does to it justice. I wish this format would become a thing, I would happily pay to see shows from the comfort of my home when going to nyc isn’t an option.

happylittletreeshhi I am so jealous! I tried getting tickets when I was in NYC two years ago, but no chance.

happylittletreeshhi oooo jealous! What did you have to do, sell a kidney? 😂 There is something electrifying about being there for a live performance, but I generally can only afford the nosebleed seats and wouldn’t have been able to see all of the wonderful details. I agree that this should become a new thing - most plebs like me didn’t have access to live theatre growing up and it could help grow interest in communities that otherwise wouldn’t have access. Kind of like what Bob Ross did for many of us!

Lilikins I won a ticket lottery and am single with no kids, I literally just hopped a flight to nyc on a whim. Totally worth it. Theatre is my first love (and first college degree) so I crave live shows but am a chef so there isn’t a lot of time for it.

Lilikins I 100% agree it should be more widely accessible and I love the revolution of shows with more modern music, to draw in those who might balk at showtunes!

I had never seen that before! I know it was only a year or 2 before Hamilton but Anthony Ramos looks so young. I thought he had the most beautiful voice in Hamilton. I’m excited to hear him sing again once “In the heights” comes out.

More broadway recordings and adaptations may be coming our way! I wonder if this has been the plan all along or if it’s due to the success of Hamilton + realizing that live performances may not be possible for quite a long time (at least in America). Either way I’m excited. And to think I purchased Disney + just for the Mandalorian.
