I was making some resolutions for 2022 today and multiple goals involve my art. What are you “going for” in 2022?

For me:
*Paint at least one and preferably more watercolor tutorials with my daughter. She loves watercolor and I do not, but I’m willing to learn, especially if it could be done while I’m traveling.
*Continue to occasionally “practice paint” elements of landscape oil painting with my kids, as long as they’re still having fun. We did a few full paintings in 2021, but it’s still just a bit too much for them to handle. I don’t want to burn them out and the practice has been fun for them lately.

personally:
*Set up at least a partial studio space in the house so it’s quicker, easier, and more comfortable for me to paint.
*Paint 26 Bob Ross episodes.
*Work my way through the entire Bob Ross “three hour workshop” DVD.
*Improve my trees from “ok” to “I like that a lot!” Especially “up” and “down” evergreens, and those pesky script liner limbed dead trees.
*Improve painting moving water. I love looking at paintings with bubbling brooks and rushing streams, but haven’t yet developed the kinesthetic sense with the fan brush to make it happen.
*Improve my mountains. These are “passable” for me right now, but take me a really long time and are pretty inconsistent. I haven’t painted many lately because I’ve been drawn toward other paintings, and I can feel myself becoming intimidated by them the longer I stay away!
*Paint a desert scene.
*Incorporate more “local flavor” into my landscapes to make them more relatable to what’s in my heart and the people that view them here at home.

Wow! I need to get this studio set up so we can get started around here! 🙂

Love the thread!

  • continue my education and study of Bobs method
  • complete my CRI training and become a certified Bob Ross Instructor
  • paint at least 60 of Bobs episodes
  • get my desk situated with my art supplies (that’s a story for another time that will be understood with pictures 😉
  • continue to teach my daughter
  • continue to improve and continue to experience the real joy of painting and never to allow it to feel like a job or a chore, but to always love it!

thank you for sharing,

Joseph

You might try the Scottsdale Artist School or Shemer Art to see if they are running a workshop (rather than the weekly classes) on the dates you will be here. Shemer is in Phoenix but is just over the Scottsdale border. We gave our son a half day class with a local artist in Cave Creek (might have been technically Carefree). She was local, good but not high end and she was still well over your budget and that was years ago.

If are you asking about something like a sip & paint, I can't think of any that are water color. Most are acrylic but you could call and ask. I know that some of them do private events and they might be willing to work with you. The SAS/Shemer might also know of someone willing to do a private class at a time not offered on their calendar.

I'm sure there are places other than SAS or Shemer but these are the ones we have experience with and could recommend.
