Does anyone have any tips on how to paint a barn to the proper scale? I don't have a feel for it and I don't want my first barn to look like it was built to house mice... or dinosaurs for that matter. LoL

Lindell, I do. But I think you may not like my answer because it requires drawing with a ruler for the best learning process. Dont get scared please it is needed for the artists and after few drawings it gets way way easier.
This requires few sketches and following 2 point perspective in pencil. When you have guiding lines you will be able to judge about relative sizes of the objects in the painting.
I had article about moon shine. I have couple of the sketches attached there, you may try to look at what I (kind of) mean but then to fly to youtube to get better advice with the video guidance how to draw.

Thanks for the advice. I would like to try the pencil sketches. Can you tell me how to get to yur article abot moon shine that has the attached sketches? And also the address of the Youtube video you referenced? I like your paintings! Thanks

Here in this one you can see that few of the same cabins are built close to each other and can see how the size changes with perspective. Having house you would always build trees around because you would know that tree is 2-3 times taller than a cabin.

I hope that helps. Ruler at first stages is better as it helps to avoid mistake. But you can see that people in those videos are very good with perspective without the ruler because of the experience.

Thank you very much Sunnylady. These videos were VERY helpful. 🙂
