Cadmium Yellow Transparency

From what I've been able to research on Google, BR brand cad yellow is listed as "semi-transparent" I'm thinking about using it as an undercoat color on a black canvas painting and am wondering if it is transparent enough to use for this purpose. Anybody know one way or the other?

ironchefmitty It will have a lower but still noticeably bright value. I would suggest Indian yellow if you want greater transparency.

I would not use BR cad yellow as an undercoat. You'll see why if you watch his Night Light or Campfire episodes. It may be listed as "semi" transparent, but against a black canvas it's opaque and bright.
