Hi all, i recently did my first ever painting and i used oilpaint it's been 4 days and i can not touch the painting without getting paint om my fingers.

I know it could take months for a painting to completely dry

But how long should it take to be able to hang the painting on my wall?

I usually add a sawtooth hanger to the back of each canvas before I start painting and then I hang it up to dry after one or two days sitting on the easel.

It depends on thickness of the paint and drying conditions how soon you can hang it on the wall. Generally it becomes touch dry after 1 week for me. I move wet painting after finished to the top of tall cupboard. To hang: I used the pins from stationary store and pin them to dry walls and hand the painting just on its stretcher bar. They are light enough to hang on there (talking about budget canvas 16x20 inch).
