I'm looking at getting myself a new easel, one that is more favourable for my height (6'3", 190cm), but I'm having a problem finding one that allows the canvas to be higher up. I recently bought one that was 190cm tall at its highest, but the bottom part of the canvas was, at most, a metre or so off the ground, which is actually lower than my current easel.

So are there any recommendations anyone can give for an easel that allows the canvas to be higher up? I think the Bob Ross one would work, but literally nowhere has that in stock in the UK. Building something and having it on the wall is also not an option.

Ha. I have the Bob Ross one. And at over a foot shorter than you, I can tell you, it’s way too tall for me! I move it around to different surfaces a lot depending on what part of the canvas I am painting. I think the BR would probably be perfect for you. Why can’t you get it? I’m in the US. Maybe I can help somehow.

I have handmade table-top easel. I can stand only while I paint top part of the canvas. Up to my hight. However when it comes to bottom it is too low and I just sit on the chair to finish painting. (Of course I would prefer to stand all the time, i would spend more calories 🙂 )

Hi, I bought a table-top easel that has 870mm high canvas capability. I have attached it to an old step ladder at a height that is suitable for me at 182cm tall. I could have increased the height by using a higher step ladder. On the old 140cm ladder, the top of the canvas can be at 2m high. I choose a step ladder as they are built for stability and 4 legs are more stable than 3. I face the back of the ladder to me as it is steeper than the front so I don’t kick my toes on the legs. I have a photo if you need one, but have no idea how to attach it here. Hope that helps.
