i have not seen every episode but I would like to know if Bob ever used lc on white canvas. If not, why? I am so new to this, it's probably a dumb question, but I was wondering why we dilute the colors with white?
liquid clear on white canvas?
Toadi He did one a few occasions, mostly part of a seascape like 'Tropical seascape (S12E9), where the bottom white half of the canvas was done with LC.
Also for 'Frosty winter morn' (S23E1) where Bob used an even mixture of LW and LC for the entire canvas.
The LW gives a more pastelled look to the painting, the LC a more hardened colouring. A matter of taste I think!
@Voy Kay#1350 , that's why I wondered. So painting with lc on white canvas is ok and the colors will be brighter,,,right?
@@Voy Kay#1361 , yeah, I had forgotten that, thank you!!!
Toadi Also, you want a VERY VERY think coat of liquid clear. Otherwise, your paint will run, and it will look like your painting is raining.
That was my lesson :o I left the garage.. came back a few hours later and my painting had started to sliiiiid down the front of the canvas .. I caught it before too much damage was done and laid it flat to dry. I also learned that flicking "stars" with TiWhite thinned with OMS hitting liquid clear does bad things.. you go from a star to a super nova!!
On the stars comment above, I found the same. Now use mixture of TW & LiqW with a script liner brush twirled to a fine point, and vary brightness using a faint light touch to a bit of a thicker heavier dot. Whatever works eh!
