I've checked some statistics on what paintings the community enjoyed most last year. Number 2 was quite a surprise for me, I didn't think that a guest painter would make it! Well maybe Steve, everyone loves Steve 😃

Wet on wet is quite a technique isn't it and it's just made for Northern Lights. I'm not surprised it is the most painted, who could resist the urge to have a go at that one? I am surprised though, that At Dawn's Light, my current favourite, didn't get a placement in the top 5.

Very interesting article! Thanks Tom, I am thinking about Northern lights for a couple of weeks to join in to the fans of that beautiful painting! I watched some videos and photos to see how the shimmer happens. It is fascinating. Now I need to figure out how to put it on the canvas in my little way.

Lovely update! I have tried the Northern Lights myself, only looking at the painting no video, and I wish I had been able to find a video as I would have realised it was a black canvas, and I tried it in acrylic anyway. One day maybe I’ll try it in oils.

Northern lights is on my to-paint list. Can't wait to try it.
I'm not surprised ocean sunrise is no. 2, it's a very beautiful painting and quite simple to paint.
