I did my first Bob Ross painting last night. Not bad, despite many "happy accidents". The main question I came out with is, I bought a primed canvas, used the liquid white. The surface seemed very tacky and gummy, and hard to paint on. It seems Bob can move his brush much easier in the videos than I could with mine. What might I be missing? More liquid white?
Thanks

Was it for sure Liquid White, and not White Gesso, that you used? If it is indeed liquid white, and it's getting gummy, it may be drying too quickly, or not enough used. The canvas you have may be a cheaper one that is absorbing your liquid white too quickly, so you could double prime it yourself with White Gesso first. Give the liquid white a good stir with a mixing stick before applying to ensure the oil is well distributed in the paint, too. Hope this helps, happy painting!
I bought a different primed canvas and it was much better. I also got some White Gesso and wil prime those others. Thanks for verifying Jeff. I appreciate it.
