Hi guys!

Some new features I am currently planning/developing for the website:

"Events": These will take a few months and allow users to upload paintings fitting a certain theme like "Seascape", "Human Portrait", or "Knife only". These could be featuring contests ,i.e. users can vote anonymously on entries and the winner gets a batch, or something like this.
Create a starting page/newsfeed for users so they can better see all the newest or most popular content at the moment. This should make the articles section more visible too.
Better integration of the forum. Show notifications from the forum on the main site too.
Rework the top bar to make it more user friendly

Felix Hey, just going through the Community articles, and realised there should be a "Report" feature, so you can be alerted to remove spam articles. There's one there now that was uploaded today.

Oh, cool, these features sound great, I am looking forward to it!

For my part, the two feature requests I would put forth would be:

Dark Mode - I know all that CSS could be a pain, so I'm not sure if this is reasonable.
Notify users mentioned in main site comments - I've noticed that sometimes people have mentioned me by name in a comment that I missed at the time and only saw by chance much later. It would be cool if something like @dracula was user-aware and could let us know so we can be part of the conversation. NOTE: it looks like the forum already has this very feature!

Again, thanks again for all you're doing to make this site so great! Such a wonderful corner of the internet!

@Felix I have a suggestion, though I know this will be quite a bit of work. Similar to how you have the colors listed, what if the brushes needed were listed as well? I know there have been a few times where I have gotten into a painting and realized I didn't have the brush Bob used. I "think" I have all of the BR brand brushes now, but I plan on painting Tranquil Dawn this weekend, and as I am listening to it at work to prepare for it, I am wondering if I have the "black oval brush" he is using for the trees.

Great suggestion! I have thought about that back when I built the site. The problem is that Bob doesn't list the brushes he uses like he does for the colors, I'd have to watch every episode as a whole to get the list.

But maybe now that the site has grown we could do a crowd sourcing of the work and everyone could add this information.

Felix: I have a few of the books from the series, they are hard to get here in Europe. But if you have them it is easy to tell which brushes are needed because at every painting there is a full list of the materials used, including the brushes. As mentioned I have a few and I could share the information. Maybe someone from the USA has more books than me, I have about 10... Just let me know and I can share the information which series I can cover and share the brushes needed for the 13 paintings of each series I have a book from.

Ah yes, Tom0779 makes a good point, I have about a dozen or more of the books between Series 10 through Series 24. Those all have the brushes listed. I'm more than happy to transcribe those out if it will help!

dracula : I have checked and I currently have the books of series 6, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 26, 27 and 30. I could share the information with @Felix if you want.

@Felix I have another suggestion (also probably a lot of work, so understandable if it isn't feasible). On the Challenges page, it would be great if you clicked on a Challenge and it told you which specific paintings you had to complete to earn that badge. I love this site, and I am so glad I found it. You have done an amazing job with it, and I am in awe at how supportive you are as the creator of the site, as well as how encouraging the entire community is. Thank you Felix, for all of your hard work!

doggymommee8301 Oh that's a fantastic idea! I will definitely add this in the future.
One item on my to-do-list is to create a better and more powerful search function. Once this is done adding a list of paintings to challenges shouldn't be too much of a hassle. 😊

Please, I beg of you, give us the ability to "favorite" paintings. I have like 10 tabs open of paintings that I want to do, but I really wish I could just store them on the site instead. Thank you so much for all of the work that you do. I am a software develop who creates websites, so if you ever need any help please let me know! 🙂

@Felix : Would it be possible, that if you edit one of your own paintings an option to change the image is offered? Most times I upload it from my mobile and there it looks much better then on a bigger screen. Afterwards I regret the quality but I cannot change the picture. Currently I can only delete the whole painting and upload it again. It would be also good in case someone gives you a hint for improvement and you correct the painting. But currently you cannot change the picture of it. Even you can now add additional pictures I think the main picture should be the end version.

yes! I thought that I was just incapable of finding the edit button and just ended up deleting the painting but it wiped out some lovely suggestions that were there before I changed it. At least now I know it wasn’t just my ignorance.

@Felix hey Felix! I have another idea about capabilities in the challenges section. I think it would be neat to be able to click on each challenge and get statistics like who has completed the challenge, and how close we are to completing a challenge (obviously that would only work on challenges that require completing more than one painting). I'm kind of statistics nerd if you couldn't tell 😉

@Felix Hi Felix! Question for you: is there a way to search for members on this site? I know that if they post a painting or leave a comment on a painting you can click their name and be taken to their page, but is there another way to do it? I'm asking because I am constantly talking about all the amazing artwork on here and when I want to show some of my friends what I am talking about, I sometimes have to do quite a bit of scrolling around into older posted paintings to find the user/painting I am looking for.

doggymommee8301 at the moment you can only go to their profile directly or type in the URL if you know it. It is always twoinchbrush.com/user/XXXXX

I'll update the search bar in the next couple weeks after finishing the events and adding some more challenges.
