Hello All, I have a couple finished works where there are glossy sections due to use of liquid clear and other sections dull from use thinned paint. Is there something than can be sprayed over the canvas to create a similar consistency across the whole painting?

Varnish the painting. They say you have to wait until it is totally cured before you do it. Sunnylady is our top technical knowledge person. I'm sure she will comment here when she has time.

rtparsjr you found a nice video about varnishing, and this is your solution. I do not know about retouch varnish use like Andrew does, my theoretical knowledge says to use it as a bonding medium to apply new layer of paint in the top. I would reiterate those 5 points like in the video.
I would add that I liked using spray varnish quite a bit because of the nice shimmer it was giving. Now I have only W&N gloss and matte varnishes for brush application and I mix them to a bit glossier side.

rtparsjr check for baumgarner restoration YouTube channel and you can see what conservators undo to give you idea of what you don’t want to do to your painting. The guy in the videos show couple of different ways for varnishing. To me it was quite an addictive channel.
