Help with Technique...

Today, I attempted "A Trace of Spring" (see attached picture for example)... often when I try to create small bushes, etc... I am not able to come close to a decent finished product. Mine appears blotchy with no definition. Not sure sure what I am doing wrong, but obviously something. Any input is appreciated.

eseerc I would try adding some liquid white to your highlight color (assuming here cad yellow) and go back over those bushes. That should help give it the form you're looking for. Just not too much or it'll come out looking flat. Don't be afraid to load the brush with paint either. Then all you should need is a light touch to create all those highlights.
