Does anybody have any advice on adding people to a painting? I'm working in oil on canvas. I'm ok with the landscape itself but I'd like to add a couple of people to it and this is completely new to me. They will be stood with their back to the viewer. I've been tempted to do them in silhouette as I assume that would be the easiest option but I would really like to add some colour as the figures will be placed in somewhere between mid ground and foreground so they won't need too much detail, but some. Even just an idea of where you start with this would be helpful. Thank you.
Advice on adding people to a painting

TheLandscapePainter I mostly avoid painting figures, but I did a few. It helped me to think they are carrots, not humans. Check the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-HIiiQm23A for example. Hope this helps.

Silhouettes would be the easiest, that is true. People showing from the backside is not difficult either. You need to know up front what colours you will use (do they match with the surroundings?) and the size (seek the best proportion for the paintings intention.
And perhaps my article might help you as well, concerning the accents of the Louboutin girl.

Happy painting!
Tom0779 thanks for the link, and the carrots
@Voy Kay#890 thank you
@Voy Kay#890 Bob did two paintings on TJOP that included people, the one (earlier season) a cowboy silhouette against a tree, and another (later season) with two women walking, backs facing the viewer. If someone can identify the latter episode, it may be worth @TheLandscapePainter 's time in studying it.
Ian_Adkins The other one is "Morning Walk": https://www.twoinchbrush.com/painting/morning-walk
Thanks to you all. I think I have been overthinking it. I will just have to have a go and see how it turns out. It's a gift for my nephew and I want to do a nice job. I can't get the video here or on youtube but google led me to "dailymotion" and it came up there if that helps others to find Bobs videos.
TheLandscapePainter I think I mentioned elsewhere, the free streaming platform Tubi has series 2-31 (remembering Bob never wanted the first series aired again!) with minimal commercial interruption and, just as importantly, sound equalization. The reason I stopped watching on YouTube is the ads were so much louder than Bob. Also, the resolution on Tubi is much better for seeing details.
Ian_Adkins Pity, Belgium doesn't support Tubitv ..... yet!
@Voy Kay#904 Three words: virtual private network
Yep.. Virtual Private Network is how I got Netflix into the UK
