Well this was a challenge. I haven't painted a seascape in quite a while. The sky was fun, blending all the colors and adding the clouds. The peninsula was far too bright and pink so I added quite a lot of VD brown to dull it. I still can't get the hang of painting the big wave and the foam. Well maybe I need to practice more. Loved painting the rocks and the palm trees. In my world there are three of them.
I agree, your wave is definitely well done. All you need to work on is the shape of the wave maybe - but the details, the splashes, the foam, itβs all very well executed.
Should have added - very jealouf of your palm trees. How did you manage to make the leaves like that?
Mgiese84 thanks π
ShadowscarsDragon thank you π
I have a feeling the shape of the wave is not exactly right but I just don't know what to do differently. I've decided to paint some more seascapes so maybe I'll find out what it is π€
With the palm trees while I paint the leaves I make the paint really thin and then first make the center line of the leaf and then I pull ti out in short curving strokes. I always put some highlights in, using one of the lighter colors used in the painting (this time I used the pinkish peninsula color). I often take a few steps back and look at the painting from a distance so that I decide where to put the next leaf. All in all for me palm trees are really easy and fun to paint.

I think you did a nice job on the entire piece. And don't be so hard on your wave, it looks pretty good to me.
