Emerald Waters

Umagaan 23 Jan 2021

This was quite challenging, mainly because I really don't get along too well with the fan brush. I found it so difficult to pain bushes and trees with it. For the island trees I used 1 inch brush and added some dark undercolor. This was my first black canvas painting so it was really interesting to see all the effects. Painting the background was like magic, really fun.
I'm really happy I found this site. Before I started painting this painting I checked out other people's paintings and tried to find out what works and what doesn't and what I have to pay special attention to. So thanks everyone๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜Š

Wel....I like it. Nice colors.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

You made a great painting here Umagaan! Depth and color harmony is sheer perfect! My compliments!

Like you, I also check upon other people's paintings to see/read how they've done it and if and where I should be cautious about something! It really works!

Using the fan brush for trees and bushes ..... well, I did that as well but soon changed to other brushes that gave me the same effect yet much more control. For instance, for a tree bark I never use a fan brush but change to a filbert for that.
And for adding bushes, there I also change the fan brush for a filbert or a one inch. It gives me the similar effect yet much less room for error ..... or should I say, an unhappy accident!

Success!!

Thanks Hado. I love sap green too ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you Voy.
I never tought of using filbert for trees, I'll have to try it, thanks for the idea ๐Ÿ˜Š

Nice painting! Almost like something you would see in a strange dream.

Looks great! Youโ€™ve inspired me to try this one.

Boof exactly, crazy, strange, a bit scary but beautiful dream ๐Ÿ˜‰

BrookeBowling I'm happy you like it. I truly recommend painting this one, it's really something special. I'm glad my painting inspired you to do so. That's one more thing I love about this site - I also often see someone's painting and decide to try it myself.
