Painted on a 20 x 16 canvas with an oval cut out of contact paper. This is my first true oval. The oval is rather large and very close on the sides{19.25 width on a 20 inch canvas}. Getting it secured and centered was a challenge because on the thin size, but the painting turned out looking good. Ity was difficult in the beginning to see where the stream would be, but it does come together. The sides are too small to have a post break the oval.

I think this works well, you can't tell totally where the snow ends and the oval begins so it softens the edges. I guess you could put shrubs and snow drift in the bottom left of you wanted to extend out, but I don't think it is necessary.
That bridge looks super slippery, I'd be glad of the fence there!
