This painting was chosen since I fits in right with 'Winter stilness' (S5E4) and with 'Snowfall magic' (S19E1). A hint for anybody would be to try these three in a row!! Best practice ever!!
Canvas used was a 12"x16, high quality. There is few difficulty in this painting or it has to be the banks and the pebbles. I made the rocks bigger then Bob since thus they are easier to paint and not distant at all.
Enjoy this creation (special attention to the signature!), and please read some articles.
Silently .... I hope to gain followers with the signature! 😜
I agree, the reflections are a fantastic little touch!
Did you change anything about your painting process recently when working with oils? Your paintings seem a lot mor refined to me
Dear Felix, how wonderful to read your comment!
Yes, a few things changed. I paint with less stress (and backpain) then before, making me more relaxed so painting goes more smoothly and specially more focused. That's also enhanced by the fact that I try to prepare each one by already watching the episode (normal speed or high speed) up front. That helps a lot!!
Another thing would be that I have more practice gained in all those months and I expanded my collection of good brushes!! Bob's 1 inch, 2 inch & oval brushes work for the best but his scriptliner sucks. I use a Davinci 00 for that, gives me the thinnest lines ever and it doesn't split!
And finally .... several artists here produce real gems the past weeks and months, simply by improving thanks to practice AND to this site. Also that encourages me to try and paint better. Every now and then, that pays off (I still paint dragons though!!).
Till next one!
Very nice painting Voy, the soft tones are lovely. I like the shadow areas by the waterline, and your snow looks very fluffy.
Only comment is that foreground trees are little bit straight, background is wonderful, colour are great and signature in the water excellent :-)
Dear Joha, you are correct. I noticed that while putting the highlights on but was unable to do much about it because of those highlights, afraid to mix mud on a tree! Even that 45° banking branch on the right was unintendly ackward!
Thanks for commenting and cheering!!
Dear LandscapePainter, so happy you like this one.
The banking with a knife was new to me but so happy I tried since it was successful. The trick is to move the white paint over those bankings in at least a 45° angle.
Concerning the snow, that was really amongst the easiest in this creation. I had a good day it seems. I added some grey, brown and blue at times to make it stand out.
Till next one!
Another beauty! I really like the blended sky and realistic tree limbs.
FVG, always a good day when you visit my dragons ..... ahum .... CREATIONS! 😁😁😁
The 00 scriptliner is a wonderful tool to work with since it's raisersharp; Specially for these smaller canvasses, it would be recommended!
Till next one!
I just checked my usual art supply stores and didn’t find that brush. It does produce incredibly fine lines!
I just ordered one from ebay, this is the item number 203132536826
Dear FVG and LsP, it can be found online, no worries. That brush has long hairs and is 00 thin, so can produce the finest of lines. I pay about 3 Euro for one, and since I was so happy with them, I ordered four of these beauties!!
Good luck, let me know when you got them and it works for you!
Voy your painting is absolutely wonderful ! Sky glows! Snow is fluffy and shoreline with stones is fantastic!
Thank you dear Sunnylady!
Those stones suit with the banks and were painted bigger. I used a different tool then normal for these and that really paid off!!
Learning SO MUCH lately!
Your signature Voy, you could have topped it with snow!
Great idea!! I will add such thing when I'm painting again! Thanks for the tip!!
I like this one Chilly day
Although that sun is blinding!!
I really like this one. Love the soft sky and background trees. The snow looks so soft and the trees really are elegant. Love the reflection of the signature 😊
I'm very fond of these soft skies as well and they stand out more in a winter scenery.
The signature reflection, I try to do that whenever I paint in in water or on ice, gives indeed a nice twist to it!
Thanks for liking this Umagaan, and till next one!

Thank you Tom!
Here, I wanted to augment some more contrast bewteen front trees and sky/background. So chose more white in the sun and more VDbrown for the trees white lesser white highlights. Quite a good effect!
Specially the background tree trunks were a delight to do. I guess I did almost 40 strokes with one load of paint thinned grey!!
