Ocean Sunrise

Aimeekin 11 Oct 2020

My first painting ever! I used artists loft ultramarine, brilliant red, and medium yellow, and Windsor newton burnt umber for the brown. That first brush stroke was scary because I had no idea whether my red was a warm or a cool red! But I like it. I decided to try my grass look more like pampas grass, and decided there weren’t any birds. Putting in the sand was really satisfying. Used my 2.5 inch brush to add more grass too. Really surprising how much expression you can get with the bigger brush.

Fan brush and palette knife were tough to use, gotta practice.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

Greta premiere you painted there! This painting is one of the most favourite of the Bob Ross episodes. We look forward to see more from you! :)

Thank you Voy Kay, I can see why it’s a favorite!

Dont worry about warm or cool, any of them will be awesome in this painting! Keep going, your first painting is great! Play with colors! Play with skies, water, shores, there is so much joy! Enjoy the process, it keeps so much discoveries!

I really enjoy your landscape decisions here. The colors of the water and the high thin clouds are nice too. Great job.
P.S. This was the one I chose for my first as well. Still my favorite. 😉
