My sixth mountain painting (painting #13, overall). Each one is a little better. Scraping off the base coat of paint, really hard, has helped get the next layer to stick.
It's been a few days and the paint is very blotchy as it dries (see the sky). What causes that and how do I fix it the next time? My house is very hot and humid.

Thank you for the feedback. So far, I have gessoed all but two canvases; and, those are the only two which are blotchy. I think you solved it. Thank you! I will confirm after a few more paintings.
Yes, I bought a bulk pack.
There are no spots on the back.

Jonesy, this may be problematic canvas, that pulls oil. Check back side of the painting and see if you have oil spots there.
If yes, switch to another brand. But if it happens you have bought 10 pack, try to gesso next canvas with one extra layer and see how it behaves.
Usually dark colors are prone to similar behavior and it is normal but you have this problem in the sky. Thus, my assumption will be low quality canvas.
