There were several discouraging things that happened in this painting, but a lot went well, too. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it as a whole. I like it, but I was really hoping to do better. The one thing I love is the little posts in the foreground, they definitely add some charm to the painting for me.
Trees and sky and grass are amazing. You created wonderful depth here. Fence that goes behind the cabin is that little detail that brings depth.
Tip: When one does path the lines need to be more horizontal at distance because it moves towards the horizon.
For cabin I would suggest to draw few cabins on the paper with 2 point perspective. It will help to understand angles. This is most challenging with cabins.
Trees on the background in the mist are superb!
Voy Kay: Thank you very much! If there is one thing I can always count on to get right, it's evergreens, haha. :)
Sunnylady: Thank you for the kind feedback, and the great tips! Those little perspective details are definitely bugging me, so I'll have to practice them for sure. I'm really glad my little background fence translates well.
I'm amazed at the levels of softness you've achieved. Very nice.
Thank you so much, TalentZero! Oils are a dream to blend, so I usually take a lot of time to blend my background because it usually works well.
