This is the first painting in a while that I considered abandoning part way through. I really like the mountain in the original (from the book), but things took a turn in a different direction for me. But hey: we don't make mistakes, just happy accidents, so I pressed on and I am glad I did; the painting still turned out to be fun and rewarding!
Man do I ever know that feeling! The desire to just scrap the painting, open the window, and toss the canvas out is something I am familiar with. I am glad you persevered because this is a great painting. I love the dark grassy areas and the waterfall. Funny enough, I've had a canvas prepped with black gesso trees for weeks now, intending to paint this exact painting. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Perhaps you have inspired me to do so! Great work here, yet again.
Trees are excellent as always mountain ,waterfall, too.
Your works look so real!

I think this is fantasy world here. I am sure there are creatures who know how to use bow or sword live there in this world. They are all unusual looking creatures and they know how to protect themselves from intruders into their world.
