This campfire was a challenge because it didn’t have the liquid white like other paintings underneath. I feel like the alizarin crimson base was harder to work with but I’m happy with the end result.

Bob doesn't mention this in the video but you could have used a very thin layer of liquid clear over the dried black gesso, so just before you add the A crimson. That way the paint will go very smoothly on the canvas and will be very easy to work with!
