This was my 22nd painting. This one had been on my list for a while. I always found it to be a nice, pleasant simple painting. I painted this one immediately following my 21st, resulting in a paint day that included 2 paintings in 3 hours, which is a record for me.
Since it's October, I decided to make it a bit more fall-themed. I'm also really enjoying using the duct tape to make a border, since frames are expensive, and it isn't very realistic to frame every painting I make.
16x20 on a canvas I gessoed once, and I could tell! It's twice from now on.
Is it worth gesso-ing yourself? I normally wait for the good deal in one of the craft shops around and buy five 16x20 with very good deal.
So pretty!
The distant hills in the mist give your painting a ton of depth. Seems like you've had a breakthrough in your recent batch of paintings. Congratulations!
I bought a 5 pack of 16x20 canvases on Amazon. On the package, it stated they were pre-gessoed, but I still bought myself a large container of white gesso and wanted to begin priming my canvases to my liking. I like when the canvases are very smooth and not 'toothy.' I also started experimenting with adding a bit more liquid white to the canvas and I find that helped so much with the blending. I also noticed how my paintings have somehow improved in my last 4-5 attempts. It gives me hope! Thank you all for your kind words. This is one of my favorite paintings I've done. It was also nice to get away from painting a big mountain and just do a quiet scene.
Thanks for reply, I noticed that you canvas has less "teeth" structure . Thanks for a nice advice I have gesso at home too and I think it will work my benefit as well.
Excellent! Especially evergreen trees are incredible because you 've painted only 22 paintings so far.
Looks amazing, loving! can you explain me about duct tape to make a border, you dont put it in a frame?
