First attempt. Too much liquid clear. Sky started running.
For me, the liquid clear or liquid white is the most important part of the painting. It took me a while to figure out what a thin coat actually is. For liquid white, I recommend the fingerprint test. There are explanations of that on the forum on this site. My first painting was done in a class with a CRI. It was on a black canvas with liquid clear. After learning how to apply the liquid white, I finally got to thinking about what the instructor had us do with the liquid clear. Like TheLandscapePainter said, wipe it down with a lint free cloth. I use the blue shop towels that come on a roll. I remember the instructor telling us you can't possibly wipe too much off.

Don't worry about it. I can happen to anybody, I've been there. It's surprising how little liquid clear you need. Question is what to do about it. This painting will take years to dry. Best thing to do I think is to take a lint free cloth or lint free paper and wipe it off. The canvas will hold onto some pigment and you could use that as a background for another painting. You have to take a small amount of liquid clear and scrub it into the canvas. To make sure you haven't got to much on there, wipe it over once only to pick off any excess then you're good to go. When you learn something it's not wasted. Apart from the oil issue, your painting looks good. Keep painting!
