Golden Rays of Sunshine

Tom0779 07 Oct 2024

This is one of the most popular episodes from the whole series. It has been published a lot of times, but never really spoke to me.
As I am trying to work myself through season 28 I have been asking the family which episode of the missing ones I shall paint next. 2 of 3 members chose this one to my surprise.
So I finally went for it and I am really surprised how effective this scene is. Also I think this is one of the more loosely painted pictures which I also love. I saw a fantastic version of Titia posted here, also the book version by Bob is very different from the TV version. So I made the scene more colorful, and not so blue. This really made a difference and I liked it.
The oil painting is really so easy and fast to do, it took me around 20 minutes. The acrylic painting for sure takes 80% of the overall time here.
I hope you like my version, which might look a bit different.

This is really beautiful Tom. I could sit looking at this for a long time. The colours and the lighting are gorgeous. Glaze is fun to work with isn't it, and I do believe it's under utilised. It was while doing my colour version of this one I realised you can erase colour and leave behind a lighter shade which is really effective for bushes. I was surprised how you can achieve millions of tiny leaves so easily using a clumsy looking sponge and applying colour to the negative areas. It's really clever.

So gorgeous and the sun shining through is fabulous!

Beautiful colors and very nice those thin light truncs

Really nice job!

Love your version Tom! Beautiful!

Perfect color selection for autumn! Love the light rays too. Well done!

Excellent job Tom. Looks so realistic..

Good one Tom! πŸ₯°

As you said, I also went with the colours of the book version.
I really like how your colours turned out.

Very nice Tom , I especially like your branches here!✌️

Thanks a lot Landscapepainter. I totally agree with you. I also didn't really recognize how nice this technique can be. I really enjoyed the process and the outcome.
I am glad you like the painting!

Thank you Sandy. I am really glad how the sun rays turned out in this one.

Thanks Jos as always.

Many thanks Bob.

Thanks Nancy. Maybe this is also an episode for you. Correct me if I am wrong but I didn't find your version yet on this site :)

Thank you Kerri. I used the same colors as Bob did, but in different places.

Thank you Cold, I am glad you like it.

Thanks Titia, yes your version and the book one was my inspiration for coloring this one.

Thanks Dirk as always.

Many thanks Brian. I spent a lot of time for the acrylic part here, so I made so much branches to practice with my special friend the liner brush :)

Great observation my dear Tom! I am way due for this very episode. It's been tickling me for a while 😁. It will be done soon! πŸ˜‰

I can't wait to see your version Nancy. It will be great for sure.
