Lazy River

Ninoum 29 Aug 2024

I did this one on an 11”x14” and therefore, it feels too busy. I could have done a better job at reducing the size of everything to make it look like there's more “breathing” space. I could have also done less leaves in my foreground trees. Smaller canvases can be tricky when you don’t use that size often. 😐

I know what you mean but you still turned out a fine looking painting.
I don't like working on small canvases, I think they need smaller brushes. Unless you can adapt, but I'm not that skilled so my small canvases look a mess.
Great river bank by the way.

Beautiful!

Beautiful N👍✌️

Great painting

Super nice , Nancy .You know I like the small formats👍🏼🇩🇪

I really appreciate your feedback TLP! 🤗 Thank you very much! And yes, smaller canvases require smaller brushes. You would think it would be lightning fast to paint on such a small format, but it can be deceiving when not used to it. But I got to learn a few lil gems while doing this one. 😊

Thank you super much Sandy, B and Dee! 🥰

Many thanks my awesome friend! 🇩🇪😃 You are the king of smaller formats! What brushes do you use and what's their sizes?

Hey Beauty, I often use very cheap bristle brushes. Here in Germany they have the numbers 2-14. Number 14 is only 2cm wide. But I also use Bobs 1 Inch and oval Brush 🇩🇪 iI'll send you an email with a photo

Thank you so much for this info. 😊 I'll be waiting for your email. 🤗

I remember a bunch of us on here a couple of years ago doing miniatures. 3"x3". I managed to do one, it wasn't great, and it took longer than my usual 18x24s. I didn't enjoy it so I didn't even try to master it. When you see some of those tiny portraits on porcelain brooches you realise those artists are truly gifted.

Looks great! 👍

As for it looking busy, to me it just looks like a very lush place in the woods. A quiet place you find when you stray away from the beaten path, making your way through the bushes to all of a sudden find this.
