A thoroughly enjoyable painting to do. I was riding the struggle bus, a little, trying to make the little rocks using a liner brush instead of a Filbert brush. Shoreline still doesn’t look particularly natural, but I was able to at least make it look better by adding some waterlines and bits of vegetation. I’ve been avoiding painting structures because well, they just scare me. This one came out fairly decent, but still has some definite perspective issues. I so much envy the skills you display when it comes to painting structures using this technique. I just don’t really understand how you can make such nice Straight lines and detailed work using a pallet knife. I love the daisies in this one as well. Pretty easy flower to paint.
Cabins can be tricky. I find it helps to make the roof a perfect V shape but they don't have to be perfect. I like the way you did the roof tiles.
I love the daisies too! A very pretty painting.
Beautiful endresult with great light and shadows in the sky, the water, the grass and on the cabin, which looks old, very old!
Looks pretty darn good Brian!

So pretty!
Thanks, all. You know, part of the reason I may be struggling is that I am using smaller canvases. I am using 11x14 instead of the larger 18X24 that Bob used. Smaller canvases require smaller tools perhaps?

Super work!
Caylakas, at that size you can probably manage with the tools you have. For your cabin you can do the old Bob cabinectomy if your knife makes it too big. Also, a neat trick I discovered is you can half-load your blade.
Thanks Landscapepainter. What do you mean by half load the knife?
Very nice painting.
You know how to load your blade right? With your knife pull the paint out as flat as you can and cut across, thats a full load on your blade, the roll of paint is even across the full width of your blade. To half load, pull the paint out then wipe your knife clean. Instead of cutting across, position your knife half way into the paint leaving the other half on your clean pallete, this time pull the knife towards you instead of across. Now you have a roll of paint on the edge of half of your blade, the other half is clean. You have a narrow roll of paint to work with. I load mine on the right hand side of the blade and apply it to the canvas working from right to left. Helps keep everything neat.
Thanks for the excellent tip, LP!
