Well friends, I tried Distant Hills a few weeks ago and was so excited to start painting that I forgot to layer the canvas with an extra coat or two of gesso :/
Lesson learned for this beginner! But, I still had a really good time making the tree trunk & branches with the palette knife :-)

That tree has character. I especially like the precarious slope of the foreground hill and the perspective of everything else way off in the misty distance.
