Saw a sky several mornings ago that I took a picture of and wanted to try to paint. Thought it fit well combined with this particular composition from Bob. Happy with most of it. The last set of trees and bushes got a bit mushy. Still struggling on foliage highlights, but midground was better this time.
You have painted a well painted lovely scene, cheers
Great job.
Beautiful painting!
Great perspective and colors.
What do you exactly struggle with as far as highlights? Maybe I can help. 😊
My main struggle on highlighting is the brush itself. This best way I can explain it is I can’t get the bristles to splay to “push” the highlights on. If I just use the paint as is I can only get it to dab on with the lightest of touches. But if I thin the paint I end up getting big splotches where small groups of bristles stick together. This happens with every brush I try to use, save the oval brush which has a different technique. I’ve even tried dry cleaning the brush after every two or three dabs (which is quite tedious and takes the joy out of painting) but it still ends up producing the same result eventually.
