This is my most recent version. My first attempt did not go over so well.
I like how I used actual brushes for the gesso. I know bob says foam brush and paper towel, but i think that is to show how easy it can be.
I like the highlight i added to the tree, and the size and placement i like. Might do this again to see what a bigger, more textured tree would look like here.
Looking good! <3
I like your composition. the path looks like it goes on forever in these woods.
I actually made this one myself yesterday. Or rather, I finished it yesterday. Did the gesso underpainting last weekend.
I did use the paper towel and a little foambrush, in addition to other brushes, because I like how the paper towel makes these random textures. :-)
You did a great job. I have a difficult with underpainting with gesso. Maybe a brush would help me.
@indicationofart I also highly recommend a sponge. The effects that gives are incredible! Mixing in some different values of gray also makes this style of painting 10x more interesting and adds a bunch more complexity to it.
Sponge works great indeed, especially a natural sponge.
And yes, gray values works wonders as well. <3
Great outcome KAS! Love your version & colors!!
