I like these early Bob Ross paintings. There is a certain ruggedness to them that gets polished aways in later seasons. I think, because I have painted 200+ Bob Ross paintings, there is a certain familiarity and polish in my own interpretations. To put it a different way: I am not doing nearly as much problem-solving in each painting as I am just leaning on solutions I established in previous paintings. I think on one hand, this is good; I operate more confidently and more efficiently. On the other hand, I think having that experience under my belt is somewhat preventing me from honoring the early roughness of an early Bob Ross painting like this.
Also, I agree with @Tom0779, this is one where the TV version is cooler.
Lastly, this dark composition was hard to photograph; I need to come up with a better system.
This is simply awesome. And I agree with you regarding the early series.
