First half was going smooth, 2nd half not so much. Really struggling with getting those popping highlights. When I put them on it just goes to mud. Ive put least little bit of thinner and still no bueno. I think its not enough paint on the brush. Either way learning and having fun.
Very nice mountains, and the misty areas under the foothills look great!
I wanted to echo what Nick was saying, and add that for me, the lighting in one's work space can make it challenging to see the application of white paint on white canvas. Here's what's worked for me:
1. buy or make a grey canvas by putting a coat of grey gesso and letting it dry before starting (it will be so much easier to see how little liquid white is needed) or 2. to crane your head until you find the angle that allows you to see the light shining off the liquid white as you apply it (this is what I do haha). Even when the brush seems like it's nearly devoid of liquid white, if I look closely I can still see it spreading that shine across the canvas. You really need to grind it around when it's such a small amount of paint.

Your clouds make me think you're using too much liquid white, and that's what's giving you problems with the foliage. I describe the amount of liquid white you need as a 'film of oil' because it's really just the absolute barest amount of oil.
