Riverside Escape Oval

When I created the tinted gesso background for my last painting, I actually had enough to cover 2 canvases.. This is how I utilized it:

I am feeling better about my progress with each and every painting now. Again, I had a bit if bleed under the tape on the oval, but it seemed to take the touch up fairly well. I used 12" wide blue painters tape to mask off the oval. I am still covering up too much of the dark which is hurting the depth of the painting a bit. 2 pictures included. Which pic is better?

18 x 24 canvas. Painting #35 in my awesome Bob Ross experience. Never created a painting in my life before Feb 1, 2022. I am really enjoying the journey.
