This is the last one of the least painted of 2022 from Matt’s list.
I had to change that moonlight poking thru the clouds. It looked like a UFO was about to land on the mountain. I did lots of research about the light of the moon… I found out that it is extremely rare that the moon makes rays like the sun would. I try to find other paintings with that effect. I couldn’t find any. So I skipped that part. Instead, I found how the moonlight shines when completely hidden behind clouds (I have attached pictures of such to show how it looks like in real). There is a very bright white glow abound the edge of the cloud(s). I tried my best to reproduce the effect. It’s not perfect but I am ok with it.
I also change the size of the oval as you can see.
This one had its fun challenges and learned lots about the moon and its light.

I totally understand why you did such extensive research! This is inspiring to go and learn things!
Thank you Sunnylady for appreciating my research. I couldn’t start this painting otherwise. I spent 3 days looking and searching for answers about that moonlight/rays.
The glow around the clouds is not always a white one. You mention colors. Depending of the color of the moon, the glow will take upon its coloration. I saw golden and blueish ones. I am sure on a blood moon, the glow is more of a reddish/pink hue.
Bonjour Nancy, your research was worth it. The details are excellent. The first thing I'm doing in the company today is to look at Canadian sunset to see how it has changed overnight 👀Happy Weekend
Thank you Dirk!😀
Can’t wait to see if your painting has changed in color! Have a great weekend too! Here will be festive due to the Super Bowl! 🏈
no extreme Colour change until yet . After the Weekend i will post it underneath😎
AHH THE GREEN HILLS..MI PIACE MOLTO.P
Your foreground tree on the right is super awesome and I love the moonlight effect!
This does not belong to my favorite episodes, but I say you did an awesome job, especially with the mountains and the big trees.
Well done Nancy!
Grazie Pietro!
Thank you B! I did my best with that moonlight.
Thank you so much Tom! Not my fav episode either! 😉

I was mesmerized to discover old master painting had moonlight was so much true to reality when I first time really looked at the moon in the cloudy sky. Not like your setting, much thinner clouds, but now I see orange glow on the clouds with a bit of greenish light empires by the moon. And every time it takes my breath away because I recall that fact how old master Aivazovsky saw the nature. I need to say being in Guyana, sky is darker than in many other places I have been and thus may be the reason I could see such colors at night.
