After 5 months of painting wet on wet. 18x24 cm
Hey Jon, this is one of the early paintings where I still had to improvise a lot. Little experience, etc. I'm all the more pleased that you took the time to look at it closely. II think if you compare this with the newer ones, you can see where experience and practice can lead. ππΌπ©πͺthank you so much
Hi Dirk: Yes, "making friends" with the equipment and techniques makes a difference, and I can see it in your more-recent paintings. When I look now at my first tries from a year ago, I see lots of opportunity for improvement. However, even early on, it's incredible fun, and there are AHA! moments when you see something that worked well to add to your personal "toolbox." I keep a notebook to remind myself what worked and what needed work; the recordkeeping helps to inform later efforts. JLS

Nice work on this! I especially like the subtle colors and interesting shading of the sky and water; also, the soft clouds that give it a winter-damp feel. All challenging on a small canvas.
