This one is probably the only one in the entire series Bob uses this particular method on. Here the dark under color is applied quite thinly. The highlights are made the same way with a thin paint. Then Bob uses the 2” brush to sort of blend the colors together.
I definitely had my doubts going into it. I was worried it was going to be a muddy mess. However I was pretty surprised and impressed how it all turned out.
It was a lot of fun and I hope more people give it a try. I’d be curious what everyone’s opinion is.
Yep I totally agree. The trees in the background being more muted gives a nice sense of depth. I tried to give less muted effect as I worked forward.

It looks like it has more dimension because the mid tone now appeared and more obvious compared to application without blending. What is your opinion on that?
