Painted on a 20 x 16 canvas. Having recently gone out to Arizona and Utah I was inspired by a photo I took looking towards Lookout Studio from the west by Bright Angel Lodge. It was a challenge to capture the depth and beauty of the scene but I tried my best. It is tough to do the Grand Canyon justice in paintings or photographs. I even caught a California Condor in the Photo and added it to the painting. After looking at my photo again to try to identify the condor by tag I noticed I caught another one, but they are difficult to paint and it will not be included in the painting.
Totally hear you about struggle with Grand Canyon. I have not attempted painting that, this is how i was intimidated by the complexity. You picked lovely color and looks like you canvas was toned into warm color as well!
I think this is great! That fiery red-orange color is fantastic and the texture is done well. You did create good distance.
Thank you I think the lighting might be off
excellent..
