The Northern Lights was my very first mountain (and 2nd oil painting ever) when I started painting BR early last year. And it definitely showed. So I wanted to do it again. I didn't even have room for the cabin last time as I had an odd size canvas. This is back on my standard 18x24.
Nice! Something tells me this won't be the last time you do this in some form or another...I know I will. 🙂👌
Thanks Sandy! Took three "lights" paintings before I finally got them correct.
Thanks David. I may do something with the "lights" like this for a future painting class. I'm thinking "Aurora's Dance" would be better suited for a class as this one has a number of challenges.
Thank you Tom! The truly ultimate compliment.
I second what Tom said. Every painting is so neatly done and your colours are always fabulous. There's lots of scope with this one, I've done it 4 times and they're all different.
Thanks TLP!
Fantastic lights!
Thanks Brian! I worked on those suckers until I thought they were pretty much perfect. I think the thing I learned from my first attempt, with regards to the lights themselves, is vary the amount of white you use. Meaning some places use a little more and others use less. That will make them look more realistic.
Your cabin is perfect.
Thanks Alexandria!
Just finished looking at every one of the 200 versions of Northern Lights uploaded to this site, and this is my favorite version. Matt, not sure if I mentioned this before; I have in my head a list of my top handful of artists on TIB. You are on that list. Always an inspiration.
Thanks so much Tony. I very much appreciate it.
