This one I did in two sittings. Sometimes I'll do that with mountain scenes. I'll do the mountain and sky one night then come back and finish it off. Any who the sky was nice and easy however mountain definitely posed challenges. The large tree in the front tried fighting me a little bit too but no such luck 🤪
Everything looks perfect.
just beautiful Matt. Love everything about this one.
Matt - does the liquid white remain workable overnight when you do 2 sessions?
LOVELY M.
Thanks Rah!
Thanks so much Luna!
Thanks Tony! The liquid white usually stays wet but sometimes I won't even apply it to the bottom until the next sitting. I would recommend at least doing the water during the first sitting. Only makes sense as you have the dirty brush ready to go.
Thanks so much P!
Awesome painting
Very beautiful! Would like to take a hike there!
Thanks much Shawn & Sandy!
Wonderful as always. I love the front lower mountain ridge, great lay of the land there.
What about those “final reflections” into the water of bushes and such? Surely you aren’t doing those on night 1 also?
Thanks H! I turned to my trusty fan brush when I got to that part of the mountain. And no the reflections were saved for night 2. When I put in the foothills is when I did the reflections.
Mountains are just spectacular!
Thank you Pam!
Please forgive my persistent questioning but how can you do reflections on night 2? Wouldn’t the liquid white be mostly dry by then, making reflections quite a bit more challenging? What am I missing here?
If I could stretch these paintings out over two nights, it would help me a lot around here, given my home life schedule and slowness of pace early on in my painting “career.” 🙂
No problem H. The liquid white usually is still wet enough to make stuff like reflections. Another option is only apply liquid white to the top half the first night. Then come back on night two and liquid white the bottom and finish it off that way. I've done that too before.
