Painting with MilanC. part 19: Đorđe Balašević
Just like always, here are the main phases of my painting process:
01. Preparation phase;
02. Sketch phase;
03. Painting phase.
I Preparation phase:
In November 2024, a canopy of the Novi Sad railway station collapsed, which left 15 people killed and 2 severely injured. Since then, a series of mass protests began in Serbia against the corrupt government. I thought of painting one of the songwriters commonly associated with the tragedy is Đorđe Balašević. He was a famous Serbian singer and songwriter, who was also born in Novi Sad. For the source, I used this image:
For this painting, I’ll be using pencils and crayons on Blok 5 (A5 format paper). I was using crayons and pencils. For colors, I was mostly using black and gray, since it's in grayscale.
II Sketch phase:
In this phase, like always, I'll draw a sketch for the painting. After drawing the sketch, we’ll end up with something like this:
III Painting phase:
For the last phase, I didn't have any problems while I was painting. Most parts of the painting were very simple to paint. I really like the fact that almost looks real. But for now, we should have something like this:
For the background, it was also very easy. I didn't have any trouble while I was painting. All parts were simple to paint. And finally, here's our finished product:
