Painting with MilanC. part 10: Пресвета Богородица
Just like always, here are the main phases of my painting process:
01. Preparation phase;
02. Sketch phase;
03. Painting phase.
I Preparation phase:
Since I celebrate the Orthodox Christmas, I thought of painting the Virgin Mary. For the source, here is the picture:
For this painting, I’ll be using pencils and crayons on Blok 5 (A5 format paper). I also used crayons, wooden colors and some pencils. For colors, I was using a combination of gray, yellow, orange, red, black and brown.
II Sketch phase:
In this phase, I'll draw a sketch for the painting, nothing special. After drawing the sketch, we’ll end up with something like this:
III Painting phase:
For the last phase, I first started by painting the Virgin Mary. I focused on painting the details from the bottom and slowly working to the top. At first, I had some trouble just getting the right color combination, but afterwards, it wasn't that difficult. For now, it should look something like this:
The only thing left to do after painting the main details was the background, which I only painted in yellow. Overall, the drawing was finished in the morning of January 7th, or the Orthodox Christmas. The portrait was done from approximately 01:00AM and finished at 7:30AM. At last, the painting looks like this:
