Painting with MilanC. part 03: Манастир Острог

Just like before, I’ll list out the main phases of my painting process, and these phases are:
01. Preparation phase;
02. Sketch phase;
03. Painting phase.

I Preparation phase:

Before we start, we need a good idea for the painting. This time, I thought of painting the Ostrog Monastery, a famous Serbian Orthodox monastery, located near the town of Nikšić in Montenegro. For the painting source, I'll be also using an image from Google, like this one:

After finding the right canvas, next we have to talk about the technique we’ll be using. For this one, I’ll be also using a combination of pencils, wooden colors and crayons (wax pastels) on Blok 4 (A4 format paper). Like in this image, I’ll mostly be using the colors like black, gray, brown, orange, but I'll also be using some green crayons for bushes and leaves. One more thing to point out is that I also used a black marker to fix some spots.

II Sketch phase:

The next phase is the sketch phase, in which we'll draw a sketch for the painting. For this sketch, I used a combination of all sketching methods. Those being the following:
a) Ruler measuring;
b) Monitor copying;
c) Free-hand drawing.

After drawing the sketch, we’ll end up with something like this:

III Painting phase:

For the last phase, I first started by painting the steps to the monastery, and then later the monastery itself. While I was painting the monastery, I really enjoyed texturing the bricks, but after It was finished, it looked like this:

The final thing left to do was to paint the cliffs, which were quite simple to paint. Although I have to point out how it took me some time to find the right color combination, but in the end, the final product will look like this:
