Hello dear artists,

This article  about how you can learn to create moon shine. Not the moonshine( I had to learn this tiny difference in the spelling...).

  1. There is no liquid white nor clear on the canvas.
  2. Think about composition 5e679e5e19855.jpeg5e679df7bc542.jpeg
  3. Prepare paint thinner and dip the brush into it.
  4. Wipe the brush with a tissue to remove excess of the thinner.
  5. Take light blue and just a drop or two of paint thinner and start where you plan to have the moon. Scrub the paint into the canvas with some old brush.
  6. Progress to the darker sides far away from the moon still scrubbing in the thinned paint(1-2 drops of paint thinner).
  7. Please note that thinned paint should not be like liquid water otherwise you'll have poor coverage.
  8. Wait a 15 minutes or so till solvent dries. This will help to have thin layer of the paint on the canvas. 5e679f6158376.jpeg
  9. Blend to make smooth transitions between the colors.
  10. Apply light pink color(TW+AC), (no paint thinner from now on) with your finger in the spot where the Moon is going to be.
  11. Apply as many layers as needed as it will depend on the pigment load of the paint. Clean your finger very often.
  12. Make that circle a bit bigger than the size of the moon and smooth the edge of the pink circle.  Pink is important as if you use straight yellow on blue it will become green Moon. 5e679fcdb24bd.jpeg
  13. Now it is time for the Moon to appear. Use your clean finger and take yellow-white(TW+CY) color and make a circle. Yellow circle needs to be smaller than pinkish  circle and right in the center of it.
  14. Apply as many layers as needed as it will depend on the pigment load of the paint. Clean your finger very often.5e67a16355360.jpeg
  15. Add clouds and highlights 5e67a17c2d162.jpeg
  16. Blend them if you like 5e67a18e6bd8d.jpeg
  17. Here you are, that is your shining Moon and magical sky here. 5e67a1a5bb1ca.jpeg

Happy painting!
